ART WORKSHOP: Mark Making with Transfer Techniques ( April 9, 2008)
The transfer technique is a form of photo based mono printing or mark making.
You can never recreate the same mark or image.
The instructor in this one day workshop is Claudette Losier. She will start
by showing varied examples of her body of work including the addition of collage,
encaustic, stains to motivate workshop participants and then give a demonstration
on the various methods of working with this concept etc. The main focus will
be on providing one on one assistance to participants throughout the workshop.
Supplies:
Plastic gloves , nail clipper or other tool for "rubbing" , one jar
of gel medium (matte or gloss) available at any art supply store, one t-cloth
or hand towel to soak with hot water and place on photo copy, a couple of brushes
to apply the gel medium and a plastic container for water.
Support surfaces: bring whatever you like in any size I.e. Primed canvas or
board, wood, glass, tiles, mylar, good paper, rice paper etc. Bring lots so
you can "play"...check out the dollar store.
Lots of black and white/colour photocopies of any subject matter that interests
you can include photocopies of your own art also NOTE: must be photo copies
using toner technology, not inkjet
Bring graphite pencils, pencil , chalk or oil pastels,markers, found objects,
a bit of coffee for staining, egg shells, basically anything goes!
