SHIRLEY ELFORD
Shirley is a past-president and longtime member of the Women's Art Association
of Hamilton.
Shirley is a well known artist and glass-blower,
Shirley's work has been shown worldwide in exhibitions and her numerous awards
include
the 125th Anniversary
Commemorative Medal of
Canadian Confederation in
1992,
Woman of the Arts from
the Hamilton Status of Women
in 1991,
Canadian Art Award
in 1996, Hamilton Wall of
Distinction in 2002.
"Shaping metal and glass by fire is my favourite form of artistic expression.
I love the fact both metal and glass are 'earth' materials.
Shirley has presented her work to Elton John, Christopher Reeve, Pavarotti
and the Tragically Hip.
Shirley's work is represented in many private & international collections
including the Bronfman/Claridge Collection, Royal Ontario Museum & the
Skydome Founders Club

Shirley Elford is the designer of these special awards.
These statuettes are all individually handmade -a human image made of molten
glass, with a spiraling blank musical staff that emerges from a half-sphere
base.
